For nearly the past 100 years, the Coos Bay-North Bend Rotary Club has strived to provide help the community. The organization’s many annual fundraisers — including the Bus Jam, a holiday toy and food drive, and the Cruz the Coos & Show ’n Shine — bring a lot of joy while helping those who need it most.
“Our motto is service above self, and we have a very real impact on literacy, hunger, the arts, and youth,” says Tom Bennett, secretary/treasurer. “The list just goes on and on.”
The Rotary Club reaches out to partner with other organizations that uphold the same mission. That’s why they look to Oregon Pacific Bank, which has a history of service to communities on the Oregon Coast and beyond.
“It means a great deal to be able to have an organization with the history and the tradition of Oregon Pacific Bank supporting our organization,” says Tim Novotny, a recent Rotary past president. “It’s especially pleasing to have an organization that is invested not just as a business, but also with their personnel in the Rotary cause.”
Heidi Proett, a credit analyst at Oregon Pacific Bank in Coos Bay, has been involved in Rotary since 2003. Not only does the bank make regular financial contributions to nonprofit organizations in the communities it serves, but OPB encourages employees to pursue their passions and take time to volunteer.
“Oregon Pacific Bank is a true community bank, and we take pride in being involved,” Heidi says.
One way that OPB helps nonprofit organizations stretch their fundraising dollars is by offering a Charitable Checking account that doesn’t require a minimum balance and includes free merchant services payment handling.
Volunteers from OPB also lend financial and business expertise to help the Coos Bay-North Bend Rotary Club fulfill its goals and, Tom says, he appreciates the bank’s assistance. “When they say they want to be a community-based organization, they deliver.”
